Gao Yuanyuan

Gao was born in Beijing on October 5, 1979 and entered the entertainment industry in 1996. In school, she was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and prescribed Ritalin. She still takes the medicine as an adult. Gao, unlike other mainland Chinese actresses, did not graduate from any drama academic institutions. Rather, she started her stardom by acting in a television commercial for Meadow Gold icecream after being spotted off the street at Beijings Wangfujing shopping district.
